Pascal Böni advises entrepreneurs, boards of directors and investors in high-stakes situations. You can engage him in four capacities:
Strategic advisory: as a sparring partner to owners and boards on investments and divestments, primarily in illiquid assets (corporate holdings, private markets: private equity, private credit, venture capital), succession, growth and portfolio strategy, capital structure and governance. Long before a transaction is on the table.
Transaction advisory: as lead advisor on mergers & acquisitions, company sales and acquisitions, and financings, as well as on investments and divestments in illiquid assets (corporate holdings, private markets). Over more than 25 years, he has advised on 100+ corporate finance transactions, many of them cross-border.
Expert opinions: as an independent expert on valuation and financial matters — for fairness opinions, business valuations, party-appointed or court-appointed expert reports (Art. 183 et seq. of the Swiss Civil Procedure Code), and as a quantum and valuation expert in arbitration proceedings (under the IBA Rules on the Taking of Evidence). His expert opinions follow recognised valuation standards, notably the International Valuation Standards (IVS) and the professional practice of EXPERTsuisse, and are prepared to withstand judicial scrutiny.
Negotiation & conflict resolution: as lead negotiator, mediator or neutral third party in high-stakes negotiations and in shareholder and succession disputes. He is a CEDR-accredited mediator with negotiation training from Harvard University, the University of Oxford and ESSEC Business School.
What sets him apart is the combination of practice and scholarship, and his independence: Pascal Böni is Associate Professor of Finance at Vlerick Business School, the management school of KU Leuven and Ghent University (Belgium), and Visiting Professor of Corporate Finance at Ghent University. He also lectures on Private Markets at the University of Basel and the University of St. Gallen. His research on private markets, banking and corporate finance appears in leading academic journals.
